Mythology of the Norse Male Fafnir Greedy Dragon Chastity Cage, The avaricious dragon from Norse mythology, Fáfnir, served as the model for the design. Fáfnir was originally a member of the giant race rather than a dragon. Legend has it that Fáfnir and his brothers assisted Odin, the Allfather, in building an unbreakable wall while he was building the realm of Asgard. Odin promised them the moon, the sun, and Freyja, the goddess of beauty and love, in exchange. The gods donated an equal quantity of gold instead, fearing the loss of beauty and light. But when the gold turned out to be insufficient, Odin had to augment the payment with a magical ring that represented absolute authority.
